Traditional Sashiko Panels

Dating back to the 17th century, Sashiko is a Japanese stitching practice (loosely translated to "little stabs") that is often used to strengthen fabric and repair clothing, blankets and other articles, but it is simultaneously an artful expression of imperfect beauty. While we can always learn more about Sashiko and try to stitch from scratch in a more authentic way, many people choose to begin their Sashiko experience using these preprinted panels.

Imported from various Japanese manufacturers, these dark blue, very light weight cotton panels measure 14" wide x 28" long.  Half of each panel has a preprinted design for you to stitch, while the other half is plain and can be used for the back of a pillow, other side of a tote bag or alternating blocks in a Sashiko quilt.  You will need 15 to 20 metres of Sashiko thread per panel.

Please note that panels are from two different manufacturers and are not necessarily the same shade of dark blue.  $20 panels may be more purplish or indigo blue than $18 panels.
